Ama really enjoyed children's books about death. I don't know that enjoyed is the correct word, but she had a collection of several and always encouraged me to read them, after a death and otherwise. I often resisted reading them on my summer visits, but when a death occurred and she sent me a book, I always read it (and they were all great).
The Next Place is one of the better books about death I've read. It's really joyful and hopeful and the illustrations are beautiful.
