My grandmother recently left me her entire collection of picture books and children's literature. The entire collection is comprised of over 300 books. I am attempting to read as many as possible in 2014.
Sam and the Lucky Money
by Karen Chinn, illustrated by Cornelius Van Wright and Ying-Hwa Hu
I love the watercolor illustrations. When I read this book as a kid, I always thought the pile of red paper Sam kicks around was a pile of red pepper... I don't know why. Sam is a great character who I related to a lot as a kid (American, doesn't speak Chinese but still has that connection to his heritage through his relatives).
